I believe that Savage is on the only one making one right now that is affordable. Tarhunt does, but they are big bucks. I haven't used one, but have heard good things. They have a new 20 guage out that has an adjustable trigger. Their 12 guage has a slow twist barrel and I prefer a faster twist barrel for new generation 1900 fps sabots to enhance accuracy. My guess is that with less moving parts, the bolt action will enhance accuracy. I have to admit, I have looked at them.
Browing used to make one, but it was discontinued. I think they were a little ahead of their time. They carry a premium on the used market.
If you buy one, let us know how you like it.

thanks for taking the time to reply.havent decided yet but you could buy a bolt action cheaper than a new slug barrel for a shotgun like an autoloader.

Does anyone out there have one of these and have any comments pro or con.The Savage 210 is an excellent slug gun.I personally have harvested deer at 200 yards.I bought it used 5 years ago and have not regretted it one moment.I have shot a lot of different slug guns and it is by far the finest slug gun that I have ever owned. The Savage 210 I have is equipped with an Alaskan Guide scope from Cabelas. It is a 4.5 to 15 by 52.I also have a set of Harris pods on my 210.This gun has produced three shots touching each other at 90 yards.I also use a Bushnell rangefinder. When I am in the field I use my backpack as a sandbag for the rear of the gun.I Use Remington Corelocs.I sight my 210 in at two and a half inches high at 100 yards,on at 150,6 inches low at 200 yards. Some hunters will find this unbelievable, but I am looking forward to harvesting my first whitetail at 250 yards. Some say this is just crazy;but with a good rangefinder, time spent on the range,a good understanding of the ballistics of my gun.and my confidence in my kick butt Savage 210 I know this is possible.

I have a Marlin 512P topped with a Leupold 2.5X7 scope.
You are right, you can buy the bolt action gun for a little more than you can buy a bbl for.
I think I paid $275.00 for my gun.
I was able to use/borrow a Tar Hunt for two seasons and they are simply unbelievable to shoot, but they are mega expensive, so I opted for the Marlin.
These gun kick like mules, so put good glass on them. With that said, I went thru 2 "shotgun" scopes before I mounted the Leupold. One scope lasted less than 8 rounds.

Sorry I didn't see this post to respond to sooner.
My father has the Savage bolt action slug gun and that thing is awesome. The groups he shoots with that thing at 200 yards with Core-Lok Ultra's are very impressive. In fact the guy who runs the range down near where my father lives told him that if he hadn't watched him hang the target at 200 yds he never would have believed that he shot that kind of group with a slug gun at 200 yds.
I like my Mossberg pump slug gun, but I'm seriously considering getting one of the Savage's after seeing first hand how well it shoots.
I echo putting good optics on slug guns. They all kick like mules, and cheaper optics don't hold up. I also swapped out the scope that came with my Mossberg after I started to get flyer rounds that didn't make sense. Put a Leupold on and no more issues.

thanks again for all who have replied.i checked out one of these guns at gander the 12 guage model and was a little disappointed with the magazine on it for the 12 guage was a top load but if you bought the 20 guage it was detachable also with an accutrigger.why dont they make them the same way in a 12 guage as the do the less popular 20 guage?go figure.

I purchased my Savage 210 at Little Hawks Gun Shop in Warsaw Indiana.I will admit that the magazines are less than wonderful, mine cycles just fine when firing the 210,but when loading it can be a little of a pain in the butt.I realize that shotgun slugs are not as sleek as a cartridge. There I believe is the problem. Its what your loading that is the issue. The front part of the brass on the slug gets hung up on the rim of the incoming slug.I have not seen the newer slug guns yet in person,so I cant comment on their performance. This season my 210 harvested 3 nice whitetails.I can only comment on the things I have experienced with my 210.I shot the new xp3 Winchester and was impressed with their performance.I hope I have been a help to you. This gun may not be for you.People have different likes and dislikes.I am happy and content with mine.
