Hi everyone,

I'm heading over to Fiji in August on a one way ticket, and just wondering if anyone has any info/experience on entering the country on a one way ticket and if it should be ok (i know that officially, you're meant to have onward travel ) for getting in, ie are they rigourous in their checks...

also, where is a good place to look for information on boats between other pacific islands?,meaning private boats, ferries and so on as a viable alternative to air travel. have been looking a little bit on the net but information is rather sparse and would appreciate some help!

any information greatly received!

thanks

Do some research on the airline, too. You may find they won't let you board with a one-way ticket unless you have the right kind of visa in your passport.

Check out the Lonely Planet travel book titled "South Pacific" for info on travelling the area by freighters and ferries. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything about not having proof of transport out. Email their embassy in Washington. I'm off to the Cook Islands and French Polynesia in Jan/Feb. on a long cruise. Lonely Planet has a lot of good travel tips for the area. Visit a book store and peruse several of the books, you may find a better one or find an answer to your question.

Good sailing.
