I am looking for any owners of 620 Rangers that have a 101 Vantage on it? What I am looking for is if you would have any pictures of the set up of it? how you like it? Pro's and Con's? I am in the process of buying a new boat for 2010 and I have to take a serious look at the 620 ranger and this is part of the process and what better forum then here.
Even better, if you would not mind sending me a private message, that would be even better and we can go from there.
thanks in advance
rob
Most are running a gas kicker on that setup?? A nice backup if the big motor goes down. Just curious if you are set on having a vantage or were considering putting a kicker on the boat??

I should have mentioned a wheel 620 with a Vantage. For the kind of fishing I do and have done, on my previous two boats, I had a Vantage, wavewackers and a kicker on the port side. I spend most of my time at the back on using the Vantage. thanks.

I am very set on having a Vantage, I would not know how to fish without one!!!! I had a kicker on my last boat, used it 3 times in 3 years, twice to get me back to the landing because my main battery(Optimas) died on the Verado.

i dont have a 620 but have 2025 and coming from the tiller world to a steerable i missed the transom electric. i added the vantage this summer and love it. i have remote kicker and wish it wasnt even on the boat (wish it had tiller arm). prolly wont use it but couple times a year and that would prolly be just to keep fresh gas in her...just in case i have an emergency.
How does a 620 back troll with a verado/kicker/vantage hanging off the transom? wavewackers a must and still take on water with a decent chop? my 2025 sits pretty low at the stern with this setup and was just curious about the rangers.

Ditto on the Vantagge...
really gives me complete control of the boat in all conditions...
Drifting- often the control of the boat is better from the back than the front and can really allow structure control in most conditions up to stronger wind and wave conditions
trolling spinners- really lets you dial in the key spinner speeds and do it quietly/ or with stealth. also if wind conditions increase you can use it in reverse to slow the boat as well as to "crab" the boat to go slow in REALLY rough conditions
live bait rigging- many live bait presentations can be best controlled with the Vantage as it allows turning on structure without interfering with the partner angler line/s. (turning the boat at the rear)
I do run a Ranger 620 and use a kicker as well as a Vantage and a Terrova

My only beef with my vantage is I wish the handle was a bit longer. My 2007 was factory rigged with a Vantage with the nice black plastic mounting boards and it also has a quick disconnect plug so I can take it off and on with ease. I did a lot of back trolling up on Leech Lake in Minnesota last spring and really didn't have much splash over as I don't have wave wackers.Wind was only around 10 mph.In high winds I think it would be pretty difficult anyway to handle my Ranger with the electric. The nice thing about the vantage is the electric stow mode, but the other Minnkota that tilts up might be better choice if the handle is longer of which I think it could be,although the tilting forward would take up some room on the rear deck? I have 3 motors on the back,Vantage behind driver,Merc 225 pro xs main engine and a Merc 9.9 pro kicker remote on passenger side.
Another suggestion would be spend the extra and put the 250 hp on the boat,I had to prop down from a 21 pitch to a 19 to gat on plane with 4 people and all the equipment onboard, also a hydraulic jack plate wouldn't hurt either, this was the only thing I didn't purchace for mine and wished I would have,I get around 58 mph'gps with my setup with 2 people, no jack plate!
