Made the decision to purchase the Lowrance X 15 but don't know if I should go with the duel 50/200 transducer or just the single 200. Most of my fishing is done in water in the 20ft to 40ft depth range except when I fish Erie (eight to ten times a year) where I may see the 50 to 60 ft range. I understand the duel 200 transducer has a cone angle of 12 degrees and the single 200 transducer has a 20 degree angle. What would you suggest? Thanks Coach

I just bought an X-15 and had the same quandry. I went with the 200 mhz 20 degree and am very happy. Unless you are going to fish VERY deep water this is the one to buy. Ther has been much discusion on this board regarding this and you might want to check the archives.

If you will be running just the X15, I would for sure go with the 200. If you will be running a second unit, you may want to go with the dual frequency to avoid potential interference problems. Even then I would personally still go with the 200. IMHO, 12 degrees is too narrow.

Coach,
I agree with Dave, a 20 degree transucer should fit your needs. Also Lowrance had a problem with the earily X-15's w/dual frequency transducers. I took me 3 months and two returns to the factory before a had the dual freq. replace with a 20 degree. Then all my problems were over.

i also salmonfish in depths as deep as 120, but usually 60-100. would you consider this deep? go with the dual?
