I, like many of you, like to fish from piers for walleye and salmon. However, a new 'trend' has emerged on the Canadian shores. On some piers controlled by harbour authorities, fishing has been banned. Citing a need to reduce liability, harbour authorities have been given the go-ahead by the federal government to ban us. Please, take the time to email your local MP and ask them to reverse this policy. Also, if your city controls the local harbour authority, please contact them and express your concerns. Even if your local pier is open to fishing today, it doesn't mean that without some noise from us it will stay that way. Oh, and if you fall in the water, don't sue anyone. Fishing is the worlds deadliest sport, if that scares you, take up curling.
