What do I have to purchase/do to add an engine interface for my Yamaha F75 with my HDS 7.

You need to have the NMEA network set up -- consists of two terminators for the ends of the network, a power node, t-connectors for the power node and the HDS 7, and anything else you have on the network.

To that network you need to add the Yamaha engine interface cable, which comes with a T-connector that you can just plug right into the network. You may also need to add a network cable to lengthen the network to get back by your engine, depending on where your HDS 7 and power node are located.

I hope that helps.

That's pretty much what I ordered. To hook up the Yamaha engine interface cable (120-37) and Red Lowrance fuel sensor, I needed the additon of 2 120 ohm resistors, 1 power node, 1 2ft network extension cable, and a total of 4 T connectors. One less T connector would be needed if you did not do a fuel sensor.

To save some money, consider buying the Red NMEA starter kit (124-55), which consists of 2 t connectors, 2 120 ohm resistors, a power node, a 15 foot cable, and a 2 foot cable. It appears that I will be able to sell the 15 foot cable as the fuel senor and engine interface seem long enough to get under my console. You should get 1 T connector with the engine interface cable.

Also make sure you get the red NMEA components for your HDS, not the blue.

Thanks
What information does the Yamaha engine interface provide?

I'm still waiting on my backordered Interface cable. But this is what I just dug up from others experiences:

engine rpm
boost pressure
engine trim (2006+)
engine temp (2006+)
oil pressure
alternator voltage
fuel rate
hours used

I see fuel rate is on there. I did not think this was the case, and thus my EP-60 fuel rate sensor purchase. Hondo, do I need this extra sensor for my Yammie, or should I return it? I would like to get mpg data from the HDS and fuel remaining using the calibration feature of the HDS.

I think others have speculated that boost pressure is water pressure from your pump. Water pressure, engine temp, and oil pressure are all things that should give me confidence in my outboard, besides the fact that it's a Yamaha. Just one click to "Pages" and you are there.

Did you order on line or purchase locally?

Mainly Cabelas because I had a large gift card from buying the HDS there in their Fall promotion. Not a lot of difference in pricing because I'm assuming the margins are low on this stuff. Check out Hondo's website too, usually good prices there also.
