Heritage trailer, I'm going on my 3rd replacement toungue jack. Has anyone else run into this. It actually has a Shelby brand jack on it. I would just as soon get something else, but the thing has a welded bracket factory painted that it mounts to on the trailer frame. rather not grind that off if I can help it. Seems the problem has always happened when I had to jack it up all the way to get it on/off the ball. The end of the threads bind in the threaded "end piece" of the inner tube....So when I go to crank it down, it breaks the "spot welds" around the edge of the tube where the threaded end connect. The dealer gave me the first 2 replacements and I thought the mfgr would straighten it out, and this one has gone 3 years of use. And I'm not going to get another freebee at this point...Any experience/ advise? :deadhorse:

sounds like your ball mount is too high?

does your boat trailer ride level?

You could either get a drop ball mount or even put a 2X4 under the trailer wheel

you should not have to crank it up that far (to the limit of travel) to unhook it from the ball.

Yeah, the trailer rides level. Thing is though, I have a double angle driveway that causes me problems, as well as having to park it on unlevel ground a few times. I inadvertantly end up cranking the thing up all the way sometimes. Point is, it should crank back down afterward with out self destruct. Looking for anyone who has changed out jacks and what they recommend, thanks.

I haven't changed mine yet, but I'm hoping Santa brings me a Fulton F2

The wheel pivot is down by the wheel, so the whole shaft doesn't try to rotate.

I have same trailer and I put a Shelby on rated for highest [1500 lb] they have. It fitted on the same welded bracket the other jack was on. My reason was I need to move by hand to position in garage. Mel
