It's a very clear lake. Tough day bite. Best fished under low light condtions.

Family cabin is on Woman Lake. I agree with Otter - I've had the best luck for walleyes in low light or night time conditions. It is very clear. However, I did catch a limit of smaller "eater" sized 'eyes one day last summer right in the middle of the day during hot, calm, sunny conditions. So go figure. There is lots of structure. There is a fair amount of pressure on that lake but it has decent reproductive capabilities. Most of the walleyes I've seen range from 17" on down but at night I've had a few over 20" up to 24".
I've caught some nice fish slip bobbering at night on the big flat behind horeshoe island. I've also had my share of skunkings on Woman Lake. A few months ago, there was another thread asking about Woman Lake and one post said he'd never been skunked there. I haven't done that well but even if the fish aren't biting, it is a beautiful lake with lots of loons and eagles to keep you company.

The father of a friend owns a resort on Woman so I spent a lot of time there during my college years (10 years ago). As others said walleyes were best fished at night but we would do well on Northerns, Smallies (could be huge) and panfish(also could be huge) during the day. Its a fun place to fish because you can move through the chain of lakes and end up in Longville where you can put in at the public docks and have lunch and a few beers

That was me who said that I have never been skunked on Woman (I'm talking the lake now). It is a great lake. You probably aren't going to get a lunker but there are good numbers of eaters.
Maybe I'm lucky but I found a spot that holds fish from late spring to fall. I'll always pull three to four eaters from this area. I would love to have a place on this lake! Our lake place is in Nevis which isn't mauch of a trip so we do it several times a year.
Good Luck

I've been fishing it continually since before I was born. I'm 45 now.
Most of the other posts are right, the best bite is during low light.
In early and late season, cranks in shallow water (3 ft) off rocky points work well. Government point is a good place but the locals generally clog the area up bobber fishing at night.
Big smallies, northerns and muskies, too. So when you can't find the walleyes there is plenty to fish for.

rock2me,
You forgot to mention where your spot was. :)
