Question regarding temperature gauges

I noticed when I ran my boat before winterizing it two weeks ago that the temp gauge wasn't working. I'm wondering if its a simple fix or do I even need the gauge. My 130 Evinrude VRO has an alarm system to indicate if the motor is running hot.

My question is: Should I even bother fixing the thing?

I think a temp guage is the most important guage next to fuel on the rig. Depending on the type of guage mechanical or electric it should be a qwick easy fix. Well worth the time spent.
