View Full Version : Talk-About Walkie Talkie Emergency Channel?
The post about the talk about rebates makes me curious how many people carry them on board and if there is or should be an emergency channel like 911 for example. I know you can get them with scan but my pair don't have that feature. I also know the range is limited but anything helps.
Maybe it's just a stupid question or idea.

I dont carry them on the boat, I use the marine radio. I do plan on using them when we have a few cars driving up north together as not everyone has a cb.
Also, I stick them on the kids now. $9 is cheap peace of mind to keep in contact with them, plus mom likes it, they have no excuse for being late to dinner.
I got the T289's, and they dont have an emergency channel either.

I don't know if this is the case in all areas, but the PA game commision does monitor these chanels. A hollar for help might get you some if the warden is close enough. I think an emergency chanel would be a great idea and selling tool too but the range of these units again is limited. Marine radios, cell or satalite phones are a better option for emergency needs.
i have a set of cobras and at $100.00 each they don,t have a emergency channel but are supposed to have a 5 mile range.
