I bought a new graph for the rig and I now want to mount a thru hull transducer w/ an external temp wire. I own a 2004 triton. Any ideas to help me better understand what to do w/ the temp wire. I have no holes in my transom as of today. The transducer is a lei 106-74. Do I then screw that wire to the outside of the transom? I don't know if I can use any other transducer w/ a lowrance.

A good thru hull transducer is the Airmar B60. It requires a hole in
the hull (around 67mm I think), and has a built in temp guage. No need
for an external temp wire.
If you are talking about a shoot thru the hull transducer, Lowrance makes
a nmea 2000 temp sensor that's on a wire and can be mounted on the
transom kind of like mounting a transducer (but only needs one screw).
I use an Airmar B60 and a nmea 2000 temp sensor. The sensor was on the
boat before the B60. (the temp sensor, like the B60, is also a thru hull).
My Ranger Reata 1850 has a thru hull transducer with a thru transom temp probe from the factory.
