For the money, the Bass Pro Wally Marshall rods are pretty tough to beat. If you can find them, HT out of WI also makes great panfish rods.

2pc Cabelas Guide 7ft medium, bobbers fly well. Loose graphite loads up real well and gives you a good cast and of course the light if going under 6lb. Cabelas provides a Fish eagle combo in which you get a Tourney II rod for $10 the combo costs $60. Its not how much you spend so much as how well they mend those little bobbers today anyhow.

www.figrigrods.com has developed a new crappie rod called the fiber lite extreme in an ultra lite. call kevin and ask him about it.

Depending on the style of crappie fishing you do, I'd suggest the Cabelas CS 900 Crappie System rod for casting light baits and minnow a long distance.
These rods have solid carbon tip section that is inserted into a graphite blank and the tip is a micro sized 2 /64th's so it's easy to detect the slightest hits.
They have a long foam handle with slip rings and a sturdy butt so you can swing big fish into the boat or onto the shore without fear of breaking the line.
Team these rods up with 4 lb Fireline and a good reel and they'll whoop anything that swims ! They come in 9 and 12 foot models and sell for around $49.99

The other great deal is the Bass Pro Shops "Micro Lite" series rods.
They ome in 5 1/2 to 8 1/2 ft lengths and only cost $39.99 which I believe comes with a rod tube or sock in the longer models.
They're a great quality graphite rod ntended for crappie fishing but very universal. The 8 1/2 footer is real nice and can be used for a small water steelhead rod too.
