I have a 1998 GMC Suburban and I am running the DexCool coolant. I heard the other night that this coolant isn't the best and a fellow should switch to the old green stuff, rather than this orange stuff.
I am no way a mechanic so I need some help on this.

The orange "stuff" has extended life (150,000 Mi.)because of better aditives. Mixing the green "stuff" with the orange "stuff" causes a chemical reaction like cottage cheese to settle in the low spots. It's yor truck...

Take my word for it, the red engine coolant IS NOT going to harm your truck in any way.

I wasn't going to mix the green/orange. I was going to flush the orange out and then add green.

i run a radiator shop and i think dexcool is garabge.

we see a lot of problems with it it will crystlize.just look at the inside of your cap.but when you change you have to completely flush out the dexcool.becouse they wont mix.everyone that works here has a vechle that came with dexcool and have all been changed to green.

Ill second what outlaw said.Just had to change the intake gasket on my 97 Chevy.Only had 70,000 miles on it. My mechanic said the same thing. Switched back to the green. My last truck lasted over 200,000 miles with the green stuff in it.
