My son Eric and I were at the Cabela's store in Owatanna and I bought a Pflueger Trion on impulse. I was looking for a low profile reel to use for bottom bouncing and he got all excited by this reel. So tell me, is it a decent reel or should I send it back or keep it. Does it cast well? I would like to put it on a 7'or 8' rod and use it for casting large spinner baits or dragging bottom bouncers. I also plan to use fireline with this reel. Thanks!!

I haven't used it but got a Pflueger Gold Medallion in at Dick's. Same reel. This one is made for us and given a different name. It's the smoothest reel I've seen. If I didn't have so many now I would have bought one. Or if I could figure a way to sneak it by the wife.

These reels are marketed for different places under different nakes.. Bass Pro also sell them Pflueger Summit. Pinnacle markets them too. They are absolutely one of the finest reels for the money, amazingly smooth. Between myself and friends we have 6 total. We always Prefered Shimano until we found these. Holding up well so far.

I have both and would say that the Pfleuger is an unbelievable reel for the $. Very smooth and will cast lighter baits beautifully. I would use my Abu 6500 series for baits over 1/2 oz and the pfleuger for lighter baits. Don't return it, you'll love this reel if used in the proper situations.
