I just washed my 2001 truck (no names=no bashing)And I noticed alot of paint chipping on the lower front corners of the box, just behind the cab. Its really bumming me out. I put mud flaps on when I bought it, but they aren't doing the job.
Anybody out there have any suggestions on something I could do? Any adhesive products to protect it? I am thinking about getting the rocker panels sprayed with bedliner material. Any thoughts?
I've got to go wipe my tears now.......
thanks

I've seen some truck done with the bed liner stuff and they look "tough". I thinks it a good idea and when mine starts to chip it's my next step

It's a commom problem on newer truck using water based paints or not enough clear coat to protect the finish.
If you want the protection without the Tough look of bed liner coating, bring your truck to a reputable body and paint shop and ask them to spray the lower 1/4 of your vehicle with "Chip Gaurd".
It's a polyeurethane clear protectant that is sprayed right over the paint to protect it from chips and scratches that occur when road debris kicks up and hit the lower panes of the truck or car. It stays very pliable unlike clear coats that harden and tend to chip and crack allowing the paint to fade, peel or chip like you're having problems with.
They can apply it so it's as smooth as the paint but it's not as protective as applying more coats to build up the finish.
if you look on the rocker panels of most top end GM cars, including Cadillac, they have the chip gaurd applied from the factory and they actually have a slight orange peel finish in it as they apply it very thick for maximum protection.
A shop shouldn't charge more than what a good set of mud flaps cost to prep and spray your truck. I'd say under $100 bucks from my experience but that depends on the shop.

You can buy it from any Automotive paint distributor and do it yourself if you have a clean and dust free garage but it must be over 72 degrees for the best results.
I use it on my boats all the time and it protects against dock dings and jigs hitting the sides at high rates of speed when I miss a fish !

It also works very good on trailers!
