Can anybody give me any info on getting my charter licence in Ohio? I love to fish and I would say I know a good amount of stuff so why not make a few extra bucks to throw in the gas tank and get to meet a variety of people. Thanks for the info. Oh by the way I will be fishing the Cleveland area. I wanted to add that because Iam sure you capt. don't want any rookies moving in on your turf.

you need a captains liscence first then your boat has to be checked by the coastguard and such...

Bob.
I don't worry to much about charter competition on Saginaw Bay. In fact we have had more charters quit in the last 5 years than start. Seems the fishing got tougher for a few of the boys who were used to catching walleye on chewing gum back in the mid 80's. Like anything else, if you don't adjust you gone. Anyway, Heres how I got my license 13 years ago. http://www.saginawbay.com/captain.html P.S. If you want to read a few recent articles I wrote about the Bay/river for this site go to: http://www.saginawbay.com/tips/index.html

I,m sure the Ohio DNR will give you info on the state requirements. Try a call to Great Lakes Charter Training for information on classes to prepare you for the exam. 586-468-1460 is the number.
