I am looking to put together 2 trolling combos for trolling on local lakes. Was considering the Bass Pro combo wht the Gold Cup trolling reel and Walleye signature series rods. I know the rod is good, but what about the reel. Is this a good setup? I plan on using them in the spring for Brown trout on lake Michigan, and for Walleye trolling in the summer with planer boards, snap weights, and flat lines. $80 is very appealing, but I don't want to waste my money. Also, I was thinking of running #10 berkley XT. Is this a good line? Thanks

Stick with the Diawa or Okuma both have been well tested and have showen themself to work well. I know a few that have bought line counters that were a "good deal" only to have them work great the first season and have drags, bearings and other things burn out on the second season. Spend the little bit extra and get a reel that will LAST. The Trilene XT is a great line for trolling. Have all 6 of my Okumas spooled with it (20#).

I agree with osprey spend the money now and you'll be happy you did . I know a few people who tried to save money and wish they would have spent a little more and get something that would last. I prefer the diawa's just my preference!!! tight lines and wet nets~~~~~snappin

Thanks to the info. I think I will go with the Daiwa SG27lc reels.
