A lot depends on whether you are buying the rod for casting, and fishing with the rod for sensitivity, or just using the rod for casting, and sight fishing, like a bobber, or watching the line. if it is for feel, definately go graphite, if it is just to cast and sight fish, go glass. i hope this helps. good luck and good fishin.
take a kid fishin this year.

Yep Den's got it for casting glass/graphite with slower recovery "helps" cast as for quick recovery, "a rods natural need to straighten out" half way through your cast and not on the end of Graphite, high modulous. Where the high modulous comes in "neat" is working the bait, and determining the lighter takes. To get high modulous to "slow" down going to longer lengths and maybe 2pc could help. Alot of steelhead fishernman use Crappie designed rods now adays, fiberglass, and graphite/fiberglass with low stretch line is not half bad. As for as tip wag.....
