This morning the experts are saying that gasoline prices will be $3.25 a gallon by early summer. Just what I needed to hear while looking forward to a great walleye season on lake erie.

Just remember the oil companies aren't manipulating the prices.

We're being mentally conditioned now so it won't sting as much when we get scr**ed this summer.

I hope this isn't so. I remember when gass prices were at $4.00 though and the "experts" were saying it was gonna hit $7.00 and stay there. It never happened(not yet anyway). I don't like the sound of $3.25 but $4 really made the bunghole pucker.

Isn't Al Gore an "expert"???

Well, I do give thanks that this past year fishing season gas prices held between $2.40 to about $2.70 a gallon. I hope I find a job before ice out so I do not have to keep the fish I catch.

I read the crude oil price is climbing due to the higher demand in China. Here's a novel thought, what would happen if we stopped purchasing items made in China? Maybe we would employ a few Americans and keep the price of fuel in check?? I don't know, just a thought......

I agree. We've got plenty of oil right here in the US. Unfortunately, the politicians won't allow it to be drilled..........

When it comes to using 4 or 5 gallons of gas to run my 90 HP Optimax and 9.9 kicker to chase walleyes on Erie, I don't care what the gas costs. However, I always sympathize with many that struggle to put gas in their car to get to work or drive to grocery store.

I'd support that!

Gas is the one to watch this summer, not really crude. I think the refiners are setting us up for a reaming. Didn't make major headlines, but the refiners reduced capacity in late 2009 by I think 14%. PERMANENTLY! Closed a whole bunch of plants that they said are closed for good. Will be dismantled and never refine again. That decrease in capacity should put us around 110% or more of capacity when life returns to normal. That equates to a self-made gas shortage in the near future and skyrocketing prices as the market gets the reports saying that they cannot meet demand. The old supply and demand excuse. Self-made. Taking into account that they claim it takes 10 years to build a new refinery, we're screwed for a few years until they meet capacity again. :help:

Valero's refinery was losing a million a day.

I work at a company that got hit bad with dropping sales of 50%, we didn't close, we made some very tough decisions, we had to lay off 50% of our workforce, cut expenses where ever we could and did whatever we had to. and it was tough!!!!. but a year latter we are here running at a profit. So my 2cents worth is that if they been losing a million dollars a day, it was from bad management OR THEY HAVE A PLAN!!!!

When we all go to buy fuel for our boats (or anything else, this year) we should keep in mind that, while it seems as if prices are rising, it has more to do with the value of the dollar falling. We have a group of 535 lawyers that have decided to borrow borrow and then borrow some more....driving the value of our money down. Very predictible. Call it inflation.

Price was a lot lower a few years ago but Valero refinery was profitable, but isn't now? Story said demand and price would be down, but now reports say gas prices will go up. But if you cut production enough you can claim shortages and raise prices artificially. Same scam, different lies LOL

The story I read(sorry, no link because it was a petroleum industry mag in print), said essentially that. They're crying wolf and plan a future market manipulation. It's not that they're losing a million a day. They are a million a day down in profit from the $4/gallon peak, which they started to grow comportable with and would like to see again. It's not just Valero either. Several refiners did it in concert together.
