Does anyone know what the primary bait fish that the Walleye go for in June in Lake McConaughy? And what color crankbaits would you recommend? (Other than charturese)

Fish Mac a quite a bit.
If you fish the dam thing at night I would recommend the #9 Shad Rap in the shallow diver. When the moon is up Clown is hard to beat. When it is dark, And I mean DARK. I like the black/gold that they discontinued last year.
If you plan on fishing during the day I would suggest pulling #7 (this is as big as they make them) rattling Shad Raps. Play with the color on this one. I like the black/crome or the blue/crome.
Don't be afraid to pull your cranks hard. Sometimes 3.5 mph is just about right. Day or night.
In June the last three years there has been a heck of a live bait bite. So don't forget some crawlers.
The primary bait fish is the alewife. They look like the #9 shad rap. But the Game and Parks says that the shad are making a comeback.
Have respect for the fishery. Please release the big ones. Let two go last year over 11 lbs. Still waiting for that 13.

Also the Walleyes should be fairly shallow all the way through June. I would think most of the fish should be shallower than 12 ft.
Good fishing and E-mail me if you need any help.

I have had my best luck with Shad Raps in blue/chrome and chrome clown. The bigger the better. I've caught quite a few on Risto Raps too. A lot of guys like to use husky jerks and let out a little more line but it seems to me that it's best to stay as close to the boat as you can when it gets crowded, which it does in most good night trolling areas (like the dam). In the day, I've had my best luck with bottom bouncers and spinners.

I think they have smelt here---trolling is not very good here--

"trolling is not very good here"
YEA RIGHT! Why do you think all the boats are lined up nose to tail along the dam at night?

trolling during the day is not the best method on this lake-- at night they line the dam because it is the only way some people can catch fish--snag them--with 40 boats trolling 5 mph--wish the dam dam was off limits at night--- sunny
