Berkley Lightning Rod would be a great choice. Reed's has them for $59.99. http://www.reedssports.com/Cgi-Bin/Webc.exe/Catalog/st_prod.html?p_prodid=3441&p_catid=955&sid=8ZjLd40VuEvW4mV-35102258001.5a

I have 2 7' med ugly stik's and really like them for trolling. Soft tip for watching the lure action and have lots of backbone. Plus they work alright on a downrigger.

For $25-35, hard to beat.

I'll give a second on either the Lightening Rods or UglyStiks. I use both. You can find the Lightening Rods for $40 to $45. You don't need a nice cork handle to stick it in a rod holder.

Heck, I bought some cheap Diawa Heartlands that I think I paid $20 each on sale at Scheels that have been great. You don't need much for a rod that sits in a rod holder. I agree with SUPERTROLLER, get one that fits the reel you use, the length and stiffness you like and buy it. Avoid high price name brands in my opinion.

Eyeeeeeeeeeee.
Piece of advice on the Ugly Sticks. Everything said about them is true. They can do it all. Troll off Big Boards and in-lines no problem. Beat down anything swimming, from Huge Kings to the toughest drum. My only complaint is the reel seats on the rods. 1 in 3 will either strip on you when tightened on the reel or work it's way loose during the fight with a fish. I solved this probelm with electrical tape. I taped down the reel foot both in front and in back. And reinforcing the threds themselves with this tape, is also a sound idea if chasing anything bigger than walleye. People, especially charter people or someone new to the game, tend to reel and at the same time roll the rell off to the side, instead of straight around in a circle. I've had clients with Big Kings on tear the reel seats right off the rod. Trust me, tape it off. Capt: Dan.

Teflon tape to "clog" up the threads leaves less "goo" to contend with

Stay off the pipe...and don't forget to wipe.

Ugly Stik 7ft 1pc medium heavy no proplem with 4 oz bottom bouncers, rigging rod, big boards, longline, and braids. I have flown kites with mine, not for fish yet though. The line counters are a little large for them but as you have proably found out the always onboard feature of trolling rods is nice to have. Alot of us guy's never put casting and jigging rods in lockers, especially rigged and ready rods.
$27.95

Granted, I'm not a charter captain, but I own 7 UglyStiks and I've never had a problem with the reel seats. You've probably got more wear and tear in one year, than I have had in my 15 years of use on several of my rods. They work great and are still the number 1 selling rod in America. They are indestuctable (almost) and a great value for the money. They do everything I want them to do to.

Supertroller.
I'm thinking you bought your rods a few years back. I bought 10 of these new ones two summers ago. 4 had to be modified in the fasion I described. The reel seat that was broke because of the king, just could not stand up to the 10 G's that 25 pounders and a rookie client puts on them. I don't think I could have said anything better about them than what I did at the begining of my post. But I think, crap, I know, the newer ones are lacking in quality in this area. I have no reason to lie. Capt: Dan.

Capt: Dan,
I'm not doubting your sincere post and report on product quality. My point was that in normal use for walleye trolling situations, he would probably not have nearly as much abuse on these rods as you experience in your line of work. If you've got the new style rods with the Blue wrappings, I agree. They look like they are more cheaply made than the older style rods I have in my arsenal. My partner bought 2 of them last summer and I'm less than impressed with them as they seem to have less backbone than the old style black and yellow wrapped rods with foam handles.
