I just heard that bushings are bad in 05 trailer axles. I guess that Ranger is replacing the axles in those years. Has anyone else heard this or had this covered through warranty?

I have an 06 trailer for my Ranger Reata 1850 and have not heard anything.

I haven't heard anything like that. Call your dealer. They would know.

I have not received any correspondence from my dealer or Ranger in regards to my trailer axles on my 2007 619 trailer. How did you hear this?

Ok, called Ranger today. The issue is only on the 2005 trailers. The issue wasn't related to the bushings, it was a rubber cord that was causing some problems. Ranger was very unclear but that was because I have an 08 and they just said it was fine and not to worry. I wish I would have left out mine is an 08 to give you all details.

If you have a 2005 trailer I would suggest you have your dealer look at the trailer axles to verify nothing is wrong.

Any idea what kind of "rubber cord"?

dholte,
I sent you a PM with a number and person to talk to at Ranger.

I have now heard from two different people with 05 trailers, 1 a bass boat and 1 a fisherman series that the entire axle needed replaced.

After reading this post, I contacted Ranger since I have a 2008 and have two friends with 2005s. Here is the reply:

********
There aren't any bushings on the axles and the rubber cords are inside
the tube itself. There aren't any recalls at all for those axles, so if
you suspect you might have a problem, you should definitely have your
local area Ranger dealer check it out.

Wall-or-Bass,
Yeah, I called Ranger as well and it is only on the 2005 trailers that were affected as I mentioned before.
I know 2 guys that have had both Axles completely replaced on their 2005s, so if you have that year of trailer I would definetly have it checked out soon.

cstalzer,

I should clarify - I specifically asked Ranger about 2005 620 trailers and that was the response I got (it was Greg from Ranger). Prior to that, I also contacted my dealer and they were not aware of any recalls nor have they had any issues with axels, whether 2005 or any other year. I just wanted to post what I had heard so folks don't automatically assume their trailer axel is bad.

Sorry if I caused any confusion.

No problem man, if I came off that all 2005 trailers were bad that wasn't my intention. I just wanted people to know that some of the 2005 trailers might have an issue and that people should be safe and have them looked at.
2005 Alxes that were replaced were for an 1800 series Reata, and a 05 comanchee bass boat.

If I may ask what were the problems. I have a 05 trailer and having tire wear problems, but may have narrowed it down to toungue height.

Without knowing anything specific, and reading between the lines it sounds like the suspension units in some trailers may have a problem. The non-leaf spring suspension units work by having 3 or 4 pieces of rubber in the axle surrounding the wheel arm. If the rubber were to be sub standard in some way I suspect that's the problem they're talking about.

Cross section of the axle and wheel arm with the black parts being the rubber showing how it works.

Sandhill,
No reason to be nervous man. 619 is a great boat and lots of people have them and love them on here. This is an isolated issue that Ranger is willing to fix, so if you are worried, when you buy the boat just have a dealer inspect the axles when you get home. Ranger will replace them if needed but most likely nothing will be wrong.
