What brand do you guys think I should get? I am only going to use it when I take trips up to lake ontario.

You should also look into the Subtroll 900 by Moor Electronics

Had the Sub-Trol 900, now I have the Fishhawk 840. Like it alot better. Not inexpensive, but works well. Good luck!
