I'm mounting a transducer on the transom of my Lund 1650 Explorer and I was wondering how others have fixed the transducer plate to the transom? Do you mount the plate so that the screws are all the way through the top of the transom were it doubles up by the splash pan or do you mount it lower on the transom under the splash pan? When I say transducer plate I'm talking about a piece of thick plastic that I have the transducer mounted to so that the screw holes are above the water line. Thanks, Korthy

I am assuming your transducer plate is about 3 or 4 inches wide by 10 or 12 long. Mount it 1/4 inch above the bottom of the boat on the opposite side as your trolling motor(if applicable). You may have to remove from the backside of the plate where any of the rivets hit the board to get it to mount flat against the boat, i usually do this with a 3/4 inch drill bit and drill into the board where the rivets are just enough for the board to mount flush, usually 1/4 inch deep into the board. A good way to know where the rivets are going to hit your board is to put a dab of grease on the rivet head put the board up to the hull where it is going to be mounted and the grease will leave a mark where the rivets will be and where to drill your 1/4 inch deep hole at. Also put a bead of silicon 1/2 inch in around the entire board on the side that will mount to the boat and a good bead around the screws, this will prevent any water spray from coming up between your board and hull. Hope this helps.

Not exactly following your description but the way that I have mounted mine on my Pro-V is as follows:
Use some marine grade silicon and lightly cover the back of the board that attaches to the transom. Place the board on the transom so the bottom of the board is within 1/8 of an inch of the bottom. Drill 2 holes within 4 inches of the bottom and 2 somewhere just above the waterline. Fill silicon in the holes and on the bolts before screwing them into the transom. Make sure the bolts are not too long to hit the inside aluminum plate of the transom. Then put a bead along the outside edges all the way around the transducer board.
Remember, the transducer should be below the level or rivet line so bubbles while traveling do not cause interference. Also do not put the bottom of the transducer board below the level of the bottom of the boat whatsoever or you will likely have a peice of plastic hopping around until your transducer cable breaks off or your screws come loose!

Thanks guys, I was mainly wondering where you drilled the holes in your transom and what you used to fasten the plate to the transom. Thanks again, Korthy
