Have a chance to pick up on ugly stick downrigger poles 9'. Just wondering on there performance for planer boards with mono being used. So many poles run & read differently plus the give on retrieve. I started using this approach in the spring & fall for those highly suspended fish otherwise I'm mainly a dipsey diver for those deep fish. Thanks

The 8'3 Ugly Stick (light) is a very popular rod used in much of Lake Mich. & Ont. I'm sure Erie too. The guys that fish for Salmon love em They'll work fine for your application. Don't know what 9' Stick you have.

I have used the Ugly stick for years, makes a good combo rod for downriggers and pulling planer boards.. Have Diawa counters on mine...
