A buddy of mine is trying to sell his 2003 18 foot Tracker Tundra. A guy that is interested is wondering if a short shaft kicker motor can be used on this boat. Does anybody know? Would you need to use a static mount onthis?

I'll share my own experiences. I had an 04 18 Tundra with an extra long shaft kicker on it and when trolling in 3-4 ft waves the kicker would cavatate sometimes. The transom is stepped so a short shaft just would'nt be very effective at all. As for the static mount, it might not be a bad idea. Depending on the kicker, you may not be able to open the storage compartment door in the back corner as was the case when I hung a 9.9 merc on the boat I had. I ended up using that compartment for drift socks because they were the only thing I could get in and out with the limited door opening.
