I was wondering how insurance works with regards to accessories.
I purchased my boat at a certain price and insured it for that, since then I have added a kicker motor and some electronics plus other misc gear totaling over 5K. If my boat was stolen would these accessories be covered or would I need to increase my insurance coverage ? Many Thanks, Jim

Jim, I can not answer this without knowing your current company as well as your coverage's. I educate my clients on all their coverage's. I write Agreed Value policies in most cases. This means in the event of a total loss you will receive the amount we have your boat insured for. With an Actual Cash Value policy, you will receive what the company feels your boat is worth. I always ask my clients to send in good pictures of all your equipment. If you have a theft claim, it makes the whole claims process a lot easier. What I have been trying to do with the members here is provide an education on the difference's between a Marine specialiy agent and your Standard Property Casualty policy. I tell my clients that with us you get a policy desiged by a fisherman for a fisherman. I would be happy to go over your current coverage's and offer suggestions. Please feel free to give me a call. I hope this helps. Bob Luellen
