St Croix bottom bouncer rod

It's been a long hard winter here in South Dakota. I've got a serious case of cabin fever.

I've been thinking about upgrading a couple of rods this spring. Currently I've been using the Walleye Angler 7' bottom bouncer rods from Bass Pro Shops. For the money I think they are a really good rod. However, I've been lusting over the St Croix Legend Tournament light bouncer rods (TWC70MM).

I would also like to purchase a longer (>8'6") dead stick bouncer rod. For that i was considering the Cabelas Fish Eagle II Steelhead rod, 8'6" med power.

Does anyone have any thoughts on these rods?

Lust all you want, but a fish the size that you need to catch up to will break those light rods.
Long winter has you dreaming out of your 15" comfort zone.

I use that same fish eagle rod in ML for my dead stick... Works great ! I haven't caught any pigs on it yet but have caught fish in the 4-5lb range w/o problems. I'm hoping to try and break it on a 12lber though.....

Big walleye doesn't necessarily mean big rods and reals. I've seen plenty of 10# plus walleye (and steelhead for that matter) caught on medium light to medium spinning gear without problems.

I think my friend Ryno is trying to give me a hard time. He is dealing with some inadequacies and quilt as a fisherman. The largest Walleye he has caught came from a spot I was actively fishing. He decided to run me off of it and claim it as his own. I’m not bitter or anything.

I'm upgrading rods this year as well. I'm gonna go to the Legend Tournament Walleye series as well. For the money they are the best value Croix in the line-up :).

I however am going to a 7' Medium/Moderate and 6'3" Medium/Extra-fast.
