Ohio boat regulations?

I was looking for some input. Taking my boat to Erie for the first time! Does anyone have the rules and regulations for my boat? What do I need?

go to http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/watercraft/ click on LAWS, you will find all the info you need. Good luck.

remeber,,,the laws specify the MINIMUM items you must have onboard. There are quite a few other things you need to actually be safe...vhf radio, gps, compass, chart, good anchor with lots or line on it etc.

and, regardless of the law, always, always, have your life vest on while on the water. So many folks take them off when they stop and fish, which is the time you are most likely to end up in the drink. Kinda like taking off your seat belt at a stop sign, I guess. m

Does mean you would need a flair gun!
On Lake Erie a USCG approved signal for both day and night use.

You need to be following USCG regs on Erie. Check them out & then the local/state regs.

Try http://www.uscgboating.org/reg/reg_stateboat.asp

Flares will be necessary.
