After the all havoc I caused with the fishing ethic and integrity questions, I fell I shoud initiate a milder topic before I go to bed. Whats the best music to listen to before heading out to do battle with ole marble eye?
Pink Floyd for the river.
R. E. O. Speedwagon for the Big Water. Give me 5 footers and (Ridin The Storm Out) crankin on 10. Capt: Dan.

I'm with you Dan a good song and a nise EYE goes hand and hand out on the water, witch brings me to the question of any good radio stations out in the Port Clinton part of Erie to listen to while I'm fishing there the first part of May? Keep on rocking and keep on fishing!!!

Nothing like jamming to some old school Metallica before i hit the water. In fact ive alawys got my cd's in the boat, but prior to leaving the harbor, nothing like a little head banging to get the blood pumping!

When I'm with clients I always have my game face on. In fact I've been accused of being to serious at times, it's almost a fault to some people. I can't help it, it's a very serious business to me to do as much as I can to teach and produce some action for paying customers. But when I'm with close friends who are like minded, the gloves are off and the music is on. And I'm as serious about my music as I am my fishing. Both have been there to sooth and distract me from lifes little bumps in the road. And I know better than to call one brand of music crap and the other great. That would raise more hair than the ethics issue did. Capt: Dan.

THE WHO- QUADROPHENIA!
There is something about this CD that gets me worked up. I would have to say it is my favorite album of all time. LONG LIVE ROCK!!!!!!!! JJ
I lean toward Pink Floyd for most excursions. Their latest greatest hits CD is excellent. Some head bangin while motoring to the next spot keeps the blood flowing. Lately Linkin Park and Scrape has been my bang of choice. Nothing beats Pat Metheny as the sun is rising though.

I'm reaching here. But anybody remember Uriah Heep, (magicians birthday?) I imagine we are starting to scare people now. Now wonder where we get our ethics. Capt: Dan.

Before a tournament (in the truck only, not on the water!) - listen to Fred Bear to get your blood moving. Throw in "Ireland" by Garth Brooks and I am ready for anything!

"House is a rockin'",by Stevie Ray Vaughn, get's mine goin.As I'm fishin' at the spot though,it's peace and quiet.Throw on some Ozzy-as I return to the dock with a few to savor on the grill.A cold Labatt's to kill my thirst.

Hey I've a question.Does the music get louder as the beer goes down better and faster? As for the tunes,it's hard to beat Metallica,Mellencamp,Ozzy,Pink Floyd,Stevie Ray,Aerosmith,Skynyrd, you get my point.A little beer, music and fishing,a great way to spend a day!

O.K. talk about a walk down memory lane. I think I still had hair when I saw Uriah Heep in concert. For the most part any of the suggestion so far would be excellent choices. I personally prefer alittle "Travel-in Man" turned up high enough to drown out the roar of the motor for the ride to my favorite fishing hole, something along the lines of Zeplin just high enough to enjoy while I'm there and something extremely uplifting for my return to the wiegh-in.

I am in the minority with you Slipknot. Most bands I listen to, nobody heard of. I crank Slayer when heading to spots. Most of the time the radio is off while fishing.

Nothing beats fishing on Lake Oahe tuned in to the "Power Loon" from Bismark, ND. 100,000 watts of power just a floatin down the river.
Oh yeah Lynrd Skynrd's "Gimme 3 Steps" and catching walleyes. That's as good as life gets.

not too many ppl down south may have heard of them, but the absolute best fishing music has got to be Great Big Sea.....:)

WOW! I thought I was one of the only folks out there with that one in my boat/truck! It's a great tune and a great CD. Still, NOTHING gets me as wound up as SRV. I don't usually put on music in the boat, but if they're snappin' and the beer is flowing, Stevie Rays guitar is definately a goin'! How about some Walter Trout?

Right on for Marley! I would say my first choice is the man who sang
"I've read dozens of books about heroes and crooks and have learned much from both of their styles..." "the seas in my veins, my tradition remains...I'm just glad I don't live in a trailer!"
"Son of a Son of a Sailor" Jimmy Buffett...now that is boating music, and the walleyes love it too!

Rock and Roll before and after fishing.During just the sound of a gentle wave and the joyous song get the net.
Then its back to the rock at the launch.
Some Judas Priest and early Sabbath with a touch of Molly Hatchet and throw a little early ZZ in there and its almost time for a beer.Mix in some Stones and some Floyd before the wall, and then I can have a beer.Dont forget to put some of uncle Ted the sledge double live gonzo on.
Next a little cool blues guitar and perhaps some funk now I can eat a little something. After a few refreshments and some eats, its time for some Guns and Roses and some Motley Crew. And mabey a refreshment or two more.
For the ride home something a little slower and mellower like some Three dog night or B.T.O.
But no country is allowed unless I know the words and I can add my tone deaf volcals to it,after a few barley pops.

Bob Dylan under the full moon- it wont be long now.If you ever see a guy in a blue Lund dancing- that's me.I wear headphones and crank it up really loud- and moccasins so the fish dont hear me dancin.Don't bother asking me how goes it- I probably won't hear you.Nobody pays attention to the guy doing the twist- I don't draw a croud.I wonder why that is....Lou in Alex.

I agree with you folks who like Metallica and Ozzy to get the blood pumping. Once I'm out on the lake I like to listen to something a bit more mellow like Pink Floyd, Sublime or some old school Waylon. Then afterwards, anything goes.

You and I have to have been conjoined twin separated at birth. You just perfectly discribed my CD and Tape box exactly how it is laid out from top to bottom, for long trips and pre-fishing meditation. And ditto on the pre-wall Pink Floyd. Dark side of the moon deffinetly. You have to be about 49 years old, middle class, have or still own a Harley Davidson, actually did manual labor for a living, and probably on your third wife because of the fishing habit :) Let me know how close I was. Am 49 Just got my second wife in October, I must have fell behind somewhere, might have been those fews years I spent in that cloudy haze.
Don't think your the minority Slipknot. LIBERATE...MY MADNESS!!!
I was a heavy metal lover and performer inthe 70's turned Jazz nut in the 80's. When my kids got old enough to start requesting certain CD's, I would listen to them first to see if I approved of the content. Swearing I tolerate and permit, woman, gay, and racial bashing I do not. Now I enjoy a lot of todays music including SLIPKNOT, Korn, etc. Many of the groups are far superior musicians than people realize.
I'm not sure the fish feel the same way though.

I don't leave home without the tunes. I just know how to turn the music down when fishing and not tick people off next to me. Quiet is good too. My choices of music go with the occassions:
-Busting heavy waves on big water, and racing during tourney time= Zepplin, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Metallica to get the blood going.
-Finessing fish= Nothing like a little soft tone of the Dead in the background to sooth the nerves...

Hmmmm, Rock 'N Roll is good. But there is nothing like night fishing on a warm summer night, cool breeze, a cold beer, and a baseball game on the radio!

I've got around 100 different Dead tapes to choose from. You can always find the right show for any fishing situation.

No tunes in the boat, I also opt for the ball game. You can listen to music all the time and anytime. But you wait all winter long to sit and relax in your boat on a a nice day listening to the game.

On the way to a tourney, Dixie Chicks (sorry, I'm superstitious, got my first win listening to `em) if fishin is slow, I'll turn on Doors, or Mellencamp. Towards evening Thorogood, Skynyrd, or Stevie Ray.

Slipknot ain't metal. Aren't they top 40 now?
Slayer is good on the boat, but it is really hard to be S.O.D.!
I also really like playing some Detroit Horrorcore rap/Acip Rap like ICP, Twiztid, or Natas/Esham when trolling. Something about the wicked beats that really goes well with the "creeping" of the troll. Reminds me of High School when we used to "creep" through the neighborhoods looking for trouble.

Rated by requests in my boat:
1. Boston
2. REO Speedwagon
3. Fleetwood Mac
4. Styx
5. Pink Floyd
6. Led Zeplin
7. AC/DC
8. Abba
9. Metallica (Black Album only)
10. Eagles
Others include: George Thourogood,Lynard Skynard, Ted Nugent, Meatloaf, Bob Seager, John Denver, Journey, Kiss, Molly Hatchet, Gun’s n Roses.
It’s hard to beat “Where Ever I May Roam” by Metallica or “Don’t Look Back” by Boston as you are pulling up to the ramp.
Sporting events such as baseball, football, or hockey always take precedence over music.
As long as it’s not disturbing anyone, enjoy it. I also like the sounds of nature.

Modern jazz
It can be hot and rockin but soft as a whisper
Many old time rockers and rollers have made or co-laberated on someones Jazz albums or (CD'S) in the past and will in the future
Smooth sounds but HOT effects
PS: almost any group of rockers is never out of the question for me//
FLOYD-MARSHAL TUCKER-CSNY-EAGLES-LEDZEP-STONES-THE BOSS etc etc etc
I still luv all that music plus like all the new stuff my kid's make
me listen to and watch on TV
I don't really understand Rap as music but I guess everybody has there rights--Just like my right to turn Rap off and tune in elseware
GREAT SUBJECT FOR A POST
God bless REO, I thought I was the only real fan left...
P.S. I also like Wagners "Flight of the Valkeries" for mood music.
