Just finished tying a bunch of harnesses and noticed that my supply of brass blades are really getting dull. Does anyone bother brightening them up before using them? I soaked a few in vinegar and that helped but they really have little "sparkle" left. Think it's worth the effort? It seems what looks good to me usually does not impress the fish...

I had the same problem. To cure this problem I spent the extra couple bucks and ordered the gold plated blades. They have a deeper brilliant shine and for me they seem to be a little more productive. Also they polish right up on just a rag. Or you can stick with the brass blades and maybe try some "Brasso" polishing cream with a Dremel polishing wheel.

I used to use Flitz but it like brasso seems to take a coating off and didn't return the shine it should have.
I arrived at the solution; my wifes jewelry cleaner. I put as many baits ( like brass Mepps) and others into it as I can--few at a time and in 3-5 minutes they shine like new. She has an electronic cleaner. I am sure just the liquid jewelry cleaner will work. She caught me so I have to be more careful, that is the answer/works on spoons, too.

I haven't tested it with the walleyes, but often a tarnished brass blade will outproduce all others on steelhead. Might be worth trying. For flash, I prefer real gold plating.
