If you want to impress your wife check out the St James Hotel. Historically restored and very nice. Not a fishing lodge.

I'd have to go with Everets to, they have always been more than helpful and they carry bait and tackle and will put ya on to fish.
If your there on a friday, ask them about the fish fry that close to them, not sure if it runs year around, but I'm told its pretty good.

Talk to Dean at Evert's but remember you get the best fishing tips and the hot bait tips with cookies!!

if your wife isn't into fishing and wants more than a resort environment, there's Treasure Island Casino and Resort just north of Red Wing, may not get the hot tips that you would elsewhere, but super marina and if your wife is like mine lots of other diversions and short and easy drive into Red Wing for antique shopping and any other shopping that she may want to do.
