I was just wondering if any of you would have any reservations about buying a boat equipped with a 2004 Yamaha V-Max 150 H.P. carburated, oil injected motor, with regards to the old school carburated technology, when everything else is so much more technologically advanced and more fuel efficient. Thanks for your insight.

That is a bullet proof motor.
But, yes...it will eat more fuel than the other Yamaha options that year...HPDI &4 stroke.
They were not known as a real guzzler. I owned one myself back in the 90s and liked it.

I've owned one for 4 years trouble free.

I currently own a 2004 Yamaha 150 V-Max carburated motor...Bought it new in 2005 and it has been trouble free since day one. It does slurp the petro, but it isn't rediculous.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

As T-Mac said, the motor is bullet proof and it does use gas but if you prop it right it will help a little

Just curious if you got the boat? If so, give us some details!

Well, the truth is I already have that motor on my Lund 1700 Fisherman, but with money being tight and getting tighter, I am at least having to consider the possibility of trying to sell my rig at some point in the future, in a worse case scenario. I was just wondering how much trouble I might have trying to sell the rig with that motor, given all of the technological advances in outboards. At least I have a Yamaha T-8 four stroke kicker on it that should at least take care of any potential buyers' worries with regards to trolling.
