I am interested if any one has any experience with removeable mounts for the Maxxum. Cabela's lists two of them. One from Minnkota and another one that retracts (3 inches). Any suggestions on which one to get?

My boat is in storage right now and my removable Maxxum mount was put on when I got the boat from the dealer so I'm not sure about model number. But, The removable section has the word "Minnkota" on it so I'm assuming it is the same one you are seeing at Cabelas. My Maxxum mounts on a plate that slides into a second permanently attached plate on the bow. It is pretty slick. I take the trolling motor off when I put the cover on the boat. I also take it off when I convert my Tyee for family use. I put the bow cushions in, drop the center portion of the floor, and take off the trolling motor. It makes for a nice fishing boat turned family cruiser or ski boat that way.
I have no experience with the other mount but I have had no problems and would have no qualms about recommending the sliding Minnkota plate for your Maxxum.
