View Full Version : what type of knot?
I have a basic question. I am stringing my spools with fireline and want to tie on some mono backing...can someone explain the type of knot I should use to tie them together...the more details the better. I appreciate the help, since I am sick of the fireline spooling off every year when I get out in the boat and drop my first line.

Find a website that explains the uni-to-uni knot. It is the best way to tie lines together. They will then pass through the guides of your rod should that need ever arise. Most boxes of Fireline came with a diagram of this knot. Look there and keep it handy when re-spooling your reels.

Use a uni to uni knot. Go to Dean's pages. www.cliftond.com. I think he has an example.
