it time to get a new fishfinder, am looking to get something for 400-500$, can you recomend something? is sidevewing helpful or complicate things?

Sideviewing is not an option in the $400-500 price range. Some models to consider:

Humminbird- 596c
Lowrance- Elite and Mark series- new this year, so approach with caution.
Eagle- FishElite 480 sonar/GPS

thanks, i can go up to 1000$, but does the side view worth it?

You can get into a new Humminbird 798c Side Imaging unit for well under $1000. I've seen them as low as $850 in recent days through a variety of on-line retailers.
