A while back there was a post where someone suggested how to check a battery on the shelf in the store for how long it has been there. I guess there are different codes for different companies. Last night I found that Sportmman's Warehouse in Loveland, CO carries the Trojans and wanted to check the manufacture date. I couldn't find where it was much less decipher it. Can anyone help on this? Thanks.

The number system that I have seen the most is a "letter - number" setup.

The letter in the alphabet represents the month of the year. A - January, B - February, etc. I believe I and J are skipped.

The number represents the year. 1 - 2001, 2 - 2002, etc.

You want C2 - March, 2002. More likely, they will be closer to 4 - 6 months old. I bought my Trojan's directly from the distributor and the batteries were 4 months old. Good luck.
