Looking for info on oil bath trailer hubs. I have drum brakes and the only ones I have seen do not have the brake drum. Thanks in advance for any help. Rick H.

Have you looked into Liqua Lube hubs? I think they are used in a wide array of types of trailors and especially the commercial units they are on must have brake drums. I dunno know.....Liqua Lube is a great concept!

Liqua-lubes can be used with or without disc or drum brakes. Check them out at www.liqualube.com. They are the best!

I have had them in my Rangers since 1999. I even lost the seal on one wheel and launched the boat and trailer 10 times and drove it over 300 miles with no oil. When the mechanic replaced the seals he put new bearings and races in but said they did not need it. Try that with any other bearing system. Go with the Liqua-Lube if you can.

Chairman,

Could you elaborate on that a little more. If I understood what you said correctly you are saying that you towed a loaded trailer ~300 miles with no lubrication and the bearings did not fail. I find that hard to immagine. I have to assume you meant that although the seal had failed that there was still some sort of lubrication, meaning, with that sort of hub, that all the oil had not drained. Am I getting this wrong?

I had nothing in the sight glass, only what was on the bearings for lubrication. I also have one glass that is milky on my 99 ranger. It is still running cool for the new owner and lots of miles on it.

A friend of mine decided to carry LiquiLube products in his shop, so he bought a set and installed them on his trailer to see how it all worked. That 1st summer, his wife was packing the trailer on the Gunflint Trail and hit a stump and knocked the hub off. Bruce took some aluminum foil and wrapped it around the hub and drove home. He said that every time he stopped to check, the hub was cool as could be. He also said that when he took it all apart at home, there was still lots of lube between the 2 bearings.

Made a believer out of me. The dealership that I work for will be carrying LiquiLube later this spring.
