Just tried my new X-15 for the first time today. There was alot of surface clutter on the sonar screen when the motor was turned off or in slow trolling speed. It was perfectly clear when I was running wide open. The power for the X-15 is connected to the starting battery of the motor. With the surface clarity and noise rejection on high it seemed to help a little. Could someone please give me some suggestions on why this is happening? Thanks in advance, Korthy

Try playing with the sensitivity settings. Scrub the transducer with warm soapy water. Reposition the transducer. Hook up to a different battery. The surface clutter may be something from your boat i.e. air bubblesetc... If the clutter is all over your screen,it could be interference from another unit GPS,Fishfinder,or trolling motor, marine radio and whatever. Check where you routed your transducer cable itself, may want to angle it immediately above the transducer and from there straight to the unit roll up extra cable away from electrical sources and secure it. Look at the picture in Cabelas it may be a normal operation.
Double check your unit settings, set up your simulator mode and see what it does and play with your settings. From there check connections and their routing,if this doesn't clear things up try a seperate battery hook-up. Last but not least call a technician for that unit.
Wish you well!!!!

Rabbit pretty much hit it on the head. You've got all kinds of variables... You'll learn the unit pretty well by the time you identify where all the settings will work best for you. Don't loose faith, you can clear it up, just keep working on the settings and changes to you rigging.

Make sure your Sonar wires aren't rigged close to your Battery Cables, best to put them on opposite sides of the Boat if you can.
