I'm as excited as a kid at Christmas time (or is that holiday time....well we wont go thru that one again..lol) Last year about this time I bought a new 6HP kicker motor for my 17' Lund from a local marina in WNY. I wanted remote shift & throttle control, no problem right? Wrong! The marina didnt have the kit to hook up the throttle cable and shift cable to the motor it would have to be ordered thru OMC. No problem right? Wrong again! OMC had their fiasco (sp) and filed bankruptcy and I was told there wasn't a hook up kit to be found in the free world. Needless to say I was disappointed. The folks at Silver Lake Marine (thats where I purchased motor from) checked with every OMC dealer they could and no one had the kit in stock.

Well about a month ago they called to tell me they finally got the parts to hook it up. So this past weekend I hauled the boat out of storage and took it to them to summerize both motors and hook up the imfamous kit.

Got the call today that it was all done and worked great. They took the boat out on Silver Lake and said it performed without a hitch. So now I am excited to be able to finally sit in my comfy chair and operate the kicker.

The people at Silver Lake Marine have been great thru this whole deal...contacted me every month to give me an update even when they didnt have much or nothing to report. Then they covered the labor to install the kit. I know it probably didnt take to long to install it but they bent over backwards to make things right. I would not hesitate to do business with them again...class people....now if they would just sell Lunds...lol

Rich, I'm glad to hear it all worked out for you. Everything I've heard about Silver Lake Marine has been extremely positive and your experience just backs that up. Long Pond is still producing. I got 8 nice perch (10"-12") on monday in the pouring rain. Not bad for about an hour and a half. Last night I cleaned a dozen. There were fewer fish caught but almost all were nice ones.I saw a few at 1#+. I'll be back tonite. You should see all the walleye in now. I had at least a half dozen right in front of me in 6" of water. They were all over 5#.

LMAO yeah its true. Robert got a hit and went to set the hok and went @ss over tea kettle and knocked the bucket over...of course toward the water...I got my hands on the biggie but she slipped my grip...good for her she deserves to be free after that episode..we managed to round up the other ones though all the time laffing my fool head off! Too funny. I figured you would hear about that. I wish I could make it out to fish with you one of these evenings but this gun raffle has got me running in all directions...cant wait till its over...as you can see it's 12:38 right now and I just got home from counting, logging tickets in ledger. Oye vay!

Thanks for the comments about the boat. Cant tell I'm excited huh?
Soon we will fishing from it. Good luck the rest of the week...maybe Sunday we will see. take care

Rich, I'm not sure if the perch will still be hitting this weekend. I went last night (surprise) and got about 10 nice ones but also caught numerous bullhead and a couple of channel cats. The bullhead are in heavy and will bite anything that sits in one place too long. I may make it to the gun raffle,. I think I'm going to look at boats in N. Tonawanda on saturday and Elba might just be on the way back. If I don't make it be sure to pick up my winnings for me :+ See ya soon and I'll keep ya posted.

Have you guys heard anything about crappie down on Honeoye? I was just told the docks were put in recently.

BuckShotJon, myself and a bunch of others headed down to Seneca on Sunday and did pretty well. The morning was bitter cold, so the day started off dead slow, but things picked up around 11:00. I did get into the crappie pretty well on Iron Bay monday. I'm going out again on Saturday out of Iron and troll for browns in front of Webster. If that's slow, I'll try for those crappie's again. I'll let you know how I do if your interested.

You guys are right about Silver Lake marina. I was looking at Sylvan's this winter. They were the most helpfull dealership I've run across in all my years.

Regards,

Fred

Fred, I lived on Honeoye for 15 years . Moved off in '99. I still have a few friends down there and they say that the crappie have been hitting for 2-3 weeks, whenever we get a warm spell. I'm guessing this weekend will be great, but crowded. I live in Webster now, about 10 minutes from the Irondequoit Bay outlet, but have never fished the bay for crappie. I may just have to get the boat in the water and give them a shot. I did hear that the browns are staged up pretty good at Shipbuilder's Creek and off the Webster pier. Good luck, let us know how you do, and if I can be of any help regarding Honeoye, let me know.
