I herd something and wanted the pro's take on it. are there pros and cons to the location (front to rear ) on where the boat sits on the single axel trailer. Would 1-2 inches either way make enough differance to warrant moving the bow bumper/winch location? There isn't much adjustment there so I was wanting to see if my friend's theroies had any merit, and before I would move anything. Would a 1-2 inch move make any significant differance on toungue wheight ....for instance?

it matters for getting the right tongue wt, otherwise, does'nt matter

Well that depends. 1-2 shouldn't make a ton of difference unless the wheels are at the ballancing point of the boat. You definately want "some" tongue weight. It will help with traction while pulling. Also too much weight is not good either. Remember tourque is equal to the distance of the arm x force.

if i am reading right?? i was always told that the end of the bunks slash rollers should be flush with the transom at the back. not sure if this really has much to do with weight dist. but i always made sure that the end of the transom was even with the bunks/rollers of the trailer. Not sure if this helps at all???

Position the boat on the trailer so the transom is supported by the aft rollers or bunks. Move the axle fore or aft to achieve proper tongue weight.

I only take my boat out about 5 times a year. One of the trips is about 2000 miles to canada & back. the others are 50 mi round trip. and am wondering how often to repack my wheel bearings. I do have bearing buddies and bearing bras on them and keep them well greased.

Babamel,
What I've done for years is pulled the hubs apart and inspected them every fall, after my last trip. This way, if there is a problem, there's no water sitting in the bearings freezing during the winter. Plus, it's one less thing to do in the spring.
