I don't start a thread very often...but this is kind of neat.

A friend asked me to check out a place on the net called "Faculty of Fishing".
After looking it over, I'd say it is a pretty interesting concept.

These people are real.
Bassmasters asked them to participate at the recent Championship. (They set up a booth there).
The idea was well received, I guess.
I am told they have hooked up with a couple of colleges already...and even some high schools.

Imagine that, huh?
Shucks... why couldn't they have had this stuff when I was in college?
Maybe my GPA would have been better. :)

Interesting way to get young folks involved. I like that idea!
IMHO...we have to grow the sport...... or we will see it die.
Take a look when you get a chance - faculty of fishing dot com.

I saw Illinois had high school bass fishing ,way to cool ,but adults had to be on boats ,so it was all involved. wow to have fishing as a school sport way cool:rock-on:

Yes sir ... I would have never missed any school. :)

I did take Fishing NM at UNM, twice I think. LOL That is pretty neat stuff.

I went onto the Faculty of Fishing website and decided to take the course. I am almost finished the first module, Fishing 1.

It has been extremely informative, and I have learned a lot of things that I didn't know before, and it's dusted off some of the things I have not thought about for a long time too!

I found the information to be presented in a very interesting, professional way, and would recomend that anyone, regardless of their skill level or fishing experience to check it out.

I am a fishing wannabe, and am looking for sites that provide basic information before hitting the water. This site seems to a good source for that information. Have any of the veteran fishermen in the group taken the fishing IQ test? Just wondering how important some of the questions are to being a better fisherman?

Unfortunately that's true. Crowded waters to save the sport (voting numbers) vs. open waters without the votes to save the sport.

BUT, if we could just get the city people to support us without wanting to join us. Now that would be the way to go.
