Do new Shorelander trailers (with surge brakes) have greased bearing hubs or oil bath hubs?

No mention of oil bath hubs anywhere on their website, not even as an option. They do list "Bearing Buddies" as accessories.

I just bought a new Tyee with a shorland'r tandem. What kind of grease do they use from the factory? It looks blue. I'd like to use the same kind, not wanting to mix greases. Mystic?

All marine greases (water resistant) are dyed blue. They are all pretty much the same. If you have more faith in a particular brand, go with it.

Actually they are not all the same, and definitely not all blue. There is Lithium based and Calcium Sulfonate based. They are not compatible. Most greased hubs coming from the factories are likely lithium ,but you would probably need to contact the manufacturer to confirm that. Cannot at all go by color. I have seen everything from blue to green to red to white.

One of the most popular Marine grease thats available is Lubrimatic brand. It is a Calcium Sulfanate type and usually dark green. If you have lithium and want to switch types ,you would have to disassemble, clean it all out,and repack.

CS is "supposed" to be superior, but from the research I have seen, looks only to show its real advantage in salt water. Might be debatable, and may depend on brands considered.

I currently use Lucas "Red and Tacky" Lithium, for years with good results. Though not marketed specifically as a "marine" grease, the specs surpassed all common marine grease of all types, including for wheel bearing duty. The serious off roaders running their Jeeps and Landcruisers and the like through muddy streams etc have recognised this stuff as about the best out there,if running in streams. That's some pretty severe duty.

I've got a small grease gun, and it's hard to get the small cartrages for it.Where do you get your grease from? Wall Mart is the only place I have here. Thanks Doug

I had the same issue and finally gave up and bought a large gun. Now its easy to find the grease I need. Plus its cheaper and I dont have to fill the gun as often. Wish I would have done it years ago

Yup...I agree with Perchjerker. Kick the small one,go to an auto parts store, buy a large one (which actually is considered the standard size). Walmart should probably have them too. You can usually find any type of grease you want in the standard size 14 oz. carts.
