Off to pool 4 this saturday, we're off mostly for walleye/saugers, but would like to try for crappies and northerns while we're there.

Any suggestions ??

You talking pool 4 Redwing? Taking a boat ? or trying to ice fish? You really didn`t specify in your post what your doing.,

Cehck with Dean at Everts if pool 4.. Check In-Depth Outdors for the latest fishing info for that area.

Boat, IDO is talking about walleyes and saugers now, I got the "see Eerets" response there too, be nice to have a basic idea what and where before I get there and find out I should have brought different equipt. :)

Was up last Mon and Tue. The standard ringworms worked as well as minnows. Didn't really kill them but the bite was decent enough for the saugers. Never did boat a walleye. Saw quite a few sturgeon caught. Can't help on the crappies and northerns.
Good luck.

Al,
One place I have always found crappies is up on the lock side of the "Y". In close to the rip rap close to the end next to the lock walls. Down size your jigs to 1/32 or 1/16th oz with small twister tails and pitch to the rip rap.

Another place to look is up in the Vermillion a short ways in the first wide turn. If you get to the tracks you have gone too far. Do the same presentation with the smaller jigs. We have taken them there also.

Good luck, good fishing........

Thanks, I had been thinking slightly larger jigs, I'll grab some smaller ones too.
I have the feeling up by the dam will be crowded, so anywhere away from that is a plus.

That gives me a good start, once again, thanks.
