Please post your feelings on whether the MWT should still fish the Detroit River this weekend? I would like input whether you are a tournament fisherman or not. There are pros and cons for both sides...some think the oil will be gone...and some think that it sends the wrong message to fish while a cleanup effort is underway. Either way lets hear what you guys think, no matter where you are from. Thank you.

I would think that if they are opening up the launches down river at noon today that there is absolutely nothing wrong with fishing the tourney.

Leave the decision up to the experts. If they don't want people on the river they will close if off or issue advisories. If not, stay out of their (clean up crews) way, and Fish.

That's a big river and it will flush the oil out in a short time. This doesn't mean that the clean-up is done. It means that the oil has been pushed downsteam to the slack water shore areas. If they've opened the launches then it must be okay to fish. You take your own chances with the oil that remains and worry about the clean-up from your boat and trailer. I'd wait another day minimum myself.
