I'm looking to invest in a stainless steel prop for my boat. I've got a Lund Explorer Sport 1825, with a Honda 135HP, 4 stroke outboard. Right now, I've got an aluminum prop, 3-blade, which is 15X17. I've been told to go to a 3-blade, 14.25X19 stainless steel. Any suggestions? I've been running at about 6200 RPM's, which is a little higher than it's supposed to (6000 as per book value). Also, top speed is at 41 on the gps, which takes a little bit of lake to get there. Thanks for your help.

When you go to stainless props you have to drop down 1 pitch for the rpm loss you get with going to a ss prop. So if your running 6200 rpms a ss 17 pitch will run about 6000 rpms if you go with a 19 you'll run around 5600, some company also make a 18 pitch and that would put you about 5800 rpms.

Thanks for the info. I'm running a 17 pitch aluminum now, so going to a 19 pitch ss should drop the top speed rpm to around 5800, correct?

Going with a ss prop will lower it another 100 to 200 rpms depending on brand so you'll run anywhere from 5600 to 5700 with a ss 19 pitch prop.

One last question, I hope.... If I go to a 17 ss prop, can I then expect to see my rpm's at 6000?
