I was a co angler for an event that the PWT ran that Doc was atone spring. During a blow day he had one of his classes and it was very helpful. If the DVD is anything close you should pick up a few good tips.

I have all of them except the latest HDS DVD, and have found them to be useful. You're not going to hear a full DVD's worth of revelations, but you will likely pick up a few pearls worth the price of admission. ;)

These are absolutely fantastic videos in my opinion. Do not be fooled by the Basic label of Part 1. This DVD contains valuable tidbits for even those of us who think we understand sonar.

The Advanced Sonar DVD (Part 2) may well be the best DVD I have ever purchased. I usually prefer books and manuals over DVD's because I like detailed information, but this DVD is the exception. It is filled with sonar images of boulders, weeds, brush, baitfish, and fish, overlayed with actual underwater photography. You can see what the actual structure looks like on the sonar screen. The fish arcs that appear near the bottom...how close are those fish to the bottom. The underwater camera footage will surprise you. Those weeds may not be as thick as you think from the sonar image...once again the camera footage is amazing. It took a long time to gather and edit all the data used in this video. Good stuff!!!!

The HDS DVD is very educational because there are a lot of menu changes and new features on the HDS units, especially with the addition of Structure Scan and the other available NEMA and Ethernet add-ins. Doc starts by opening the box, and then covers boat layout, installation, and settings. Then he sorts through all of the HDS menu and setup choices in great detail; but most notable he highlights the important parameters which will help you catch fish under certain situations. The menu and setup options are in the HDS manual, but his experience based insight on how to fine tune these units for real world situations is not. This is a DVD that you need to study and take notes....not simply watch.

All of these DVD's are very thorough and educational. Highly recommended!

In 2006 I purchased a new boat and along with with it I purchased new electronics. Prior to that I had used a Lowrance 2330c flasher for almost 20 years. I stumbled upon the DVD's from Doc and that made all the difference in my transition. I currently own all of them and just recently purchased the HDS one. They helped me understand not only the operation, but also the proper installation and such. Still pull them out occasionally as a refresher, great products.

Start with the Advanced Sonar Part 1, and then get Part 2. They should prove very helpful to you.

Doc's GPS training is very helpful too.

Your feedback given is very common on the whole line of Doc's DVD's.

They are a very valuable long term set of tools to hone the skills of anglers of all skill levels. Doc does his job very well.

I have viewed Doc’s new HDS DVD several times, it doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned angler or you make one trip a year to Canada you will better understand and utilize Lowrance’s new units. Doc go’s through step by step from installation to advanced user menus. I viewed the DVD with my HDS 10 turned on and followed docs instructions and avoided the on the water frustration of learning the new programs. I recommend these DVD’s to anyone that wants to speed up the learning curve to better understand these high tech electronics.
