I'm thinking about buying a used 2009 Navionics Platinum chip. The person that owned it before me used it in a Hummingbird. I have a Lowrance LCX37 that has been updated. Will this chip work in my unit since it was used in a Hummingbird first?

It should. The 37 and 38 models could be upraded to run the Platinum. Not as easy to run as int he HDS or H-Birds, but it is pretty cool when you get it figured out.

I would check to make sure that your ploter can run the bigger (in megabytes) 2010 Platinum charts, though. You can check plotter compatibility at http://www.navionics.com and go to the lakes section. The Platinum charts for 2010 are the same footprint now as the Premium, so you will not need a couple of Platinum to cover the Premium area. But make sure your plotter will run the bigger charts. It is a matter of the processor in the unit being able to process all that data.
