Am considering using long, graphite rods for trolling crankbaits. 8-10' two piece baitcasting rods. I currently use 9' glass rods (low quality) for trolling crankbaits with and without boards. With a board, you can never tell if the bait is fouled. I realize that a 10' rod won't spread the bait away from the boat like a board, but it would get the bait out away farther than the rods I am currently using. Any thoughts? Are there any long, good quality rods out there for less than the $200 it costs for a 10' Loomis? Thanks.

Falcon Just came out with a very Good 8' retractable butt Bait casting
rod. It has Fuji guides and Seats. (Silver Series) It's not on their web site, But Info on Falcon rods is there. (www.falconrods.com)
I know that Thorne Brothers has them for ~ $95.00.

Good Luck

Cabelas has a pretty cool looking colapsible outrigger. It extends to 15 feet and compacts down to 3 1/2 feet. It goes for $20.99. It`s on page 157 of the tackle shop catalog. Catalog # WN-01-4367. It might be on their website. Good luck.

Bass Pro Shops has the P/K Walleye Series Trolling Rod in 8 1/2' and it collapses down enough to fit in most rod lockers. They're ~60 bucks, and if you find them on sale you can get them for $30 (back at Christmas time).
