Jay Anderson the Mercury Tech lost his house in a fire last night.

It's time to step up to the plate again. This guy lost EVERYTHING!

No one was hurt, thank goodness.

It's a tough thing to lose everything you own overnight, I've been there. Had a house burn down when I was a kid. We can never replace simple things like pictures. (I was at the State Fair, so don't get the wrong impression LOL)

It's a tough deal.

We are so sorry to learn of Jay's loss. The check is on the way. Thanks for all of your help in the past Jay. Hang in there and your friends will help you get through this.

Sorry to hear of Jay's loss!...but didn't he have insurance?

I am sure he had insurance, but just a little information. We lost our home a year and a half ago to a fire. We also lost everything. We had insurance, we actually thought we were overinsured. Boy how quick it all adds up. We did not have enough insurance to replace everything. But not only is the financial end tough, the emotional end is even worse. Many personal items and family hand me downs are gone forever. Then try explaining to the kids not to worry and that everything is fine when they see that all they have is gone.
I am very sorry for the family's loss and I know that there are no words that will comfort you, but as an avid reader of this board for a few years now I do know you will find lots of support and prayers, including ours.

I never met Jay and i don,t know him but i will send a check to help out cause thats what its all about, i,m glad everybody in his family is ok cause thats the most important thing, good luck and hang in there.

I am sure he did/does have insurance. But I think the bigger point is being lost here. Have you ever dealt with an insurance company over a major loss? A tiger is nicer to it's prey than they can be with insured parties that dare to make a claim.
Add to that bills are still due, including a house payment for what is now smoking rubble. Jay also needs to have a place to stay and go buy new clothes.
As an example, hypothetically, put all your clothes in a pile and set fire to them. Now go out and plunk down the cash for seven shirts, seven pairs of pants, seven pairs of under drawers, seven pairs of socks, one or two more pairs of shoes, a belt or two and a second jacket. If you are an executive, be sure to include several business outfits.
Jay's truck was damaged in the fire, it is not drivable at this moment, so go rent a car. And food, you now have to eat 3 squares a day, at a restaurant.
This is what Jay is up against, having to pull money out of his pockets, right now. Then there is the deductable on the insurance and the time it will take to get the settlement and find a place to live.
Now, everything was lost, right? How bout them bills? Do you remember how to contact all the creditors off the top of your head? Especially the credit card people? Sure there are numbers on the cards, but it all takes time, and the bills are still due! OOP wait! you have no phone! Or a place to plug it in for that matter.
Yes many people do seek the aid of family and friends, butthat also put's everyone involved out a bit.
It is a very painfull process from start to finish. First the fire, and that was the most painless part. Then there is the insurance companies, I hope you never have to deal with them. Then the out of pocket expenses to go on with your life. Then the rebuilding. And there is always having to deal with the loss of all your little possesions in life that are priceless. Photos, family keepsakes and momentos. How do you put a price on that? Think about what you'd loose if your home went up in flames, and how hard it would be on you. Would you like to benefit from a wealth of friends and kind strangers? Sorry if this comes across as a rant, but I for one was a little offended at the way your post came across in my eyes. <Rant mode off>

My motor was giving me all kinds of problems early in the 2000 season. I went to 3 different mechanics for help and paid all dearly. The problems continued until the motor shut down all together while fishing Saginaw. I knew Jay was in town for a tournament and I wanted his opinion.Jay didnt know me from Adam. Jay was very busy with the PWT guys so Iwasnt sure he had time to look at the motor.Needless to say, Jay made time and my motor has had 0 problems since.Jay would not accept payment,although I tried. I am going to Erie to re-pay my debt of graditude next week face to face.

I run a Yamaha and Ive never met Jay but I have freinds who do and Im sure that they are writeing a check also. There is a check on the way if I could give more I would.
